| D2D #3 - Should Valve import some weather effects? CLOSED Welcome to the third "Dota 2 Discussion" topic! We will be creating discussion topics like this in order to increase our Portal activity. Furthermore, you will be able to win some cool stuff, mostly Dota 2 items, simply by joining our conversations! I will be donating items directly from my personal inventory and reward those who are most active and constructive! So, let's proceed to our third discussion! What do you think? Valve is known by taking care of the small details. What if they import a global weather, like rain, wind, morning fog or snow? Of course, I am not talking about heavy rains and floods, but about some modest effects that won't affect the gameplay. Imagine a thunder hits and lights the land in the middle of the night.. How to win Dota 2 items? To check the winners of the last discussion, click here. I will usually donate 2-3 items directly from my inventory. Sometimes those items will be uncommon, sometimes rare but mostly common. This time, our members donated a few items that will be used for this discussion. | | | Executioner's Hood

Important info! There are a few things that you should be aware of.1. You have to have at least 15 posts in order to win the item(s).This doesn't mean that you have to post 15 replies in this topic! Don't spam with simple "one-word" posts, we hate that! You have many cool forums on our site, browse through them and reply to some. Easy as that! Join our last discussion - Link and share your thoughts there. Make sure to leave some feedback to our new project - Blog entries made by Sairex, here and here 2. Only constructive replies with a good content will be taken into an account.Don't just say - Yes, I like this idea. Tell us what you like and why! We will read every single comment, don't worry. We also plan to join you and discuss with you! Of course, breaking the common forum rules won't be tolerated (double posts, cursing, trolling etc.) 3. When will we decide about the item winners? We will do discussions like this very often, so there is a high chance that you will eventually get something cool from us. Once we publish our next discussion, we will again read through the comments from the previous discussion and randomly reward 2-3 guys (2-3 items) with the "normal" comments that have more than 10-15 words. Help us to create a nice discussion environment and I promise that eventually we will provide you with very, very cool items! | Personaly i think that weather effects affect mostly the more emotional part of gaming community ... for example i like to listen to the rain drops while im nervous or some people like the sandstorm every person has his own way of seeing the world and personaly i think that weather effects is a great idea but if its supported by sound effects aloing with the visual also for the love of god we need 1v1 2v2 3v3 ladder matchmaking system more mods to choose from :mm, om ,np ar .etc hopefully in the near future we will have a taste of what Valve is capable of ,because so far im not impressed cheers |

| ^theyre developing hallowen them o.O? Awsome.
Anyway it would be nice to see the weather effects impelemented because usually alot of the players would change the weather to how it suited them in dota 1 so i don't want to see this into cosmetics rather more into commands ,to change it whenever you want without cost at your will.

| Just imagine getting a Rampage, and a few sc later, a thunder lights the night map.. It would be an epic feeling. Or a small white morning fog above the river and in forest that moves as you pass.. Or cool looking blue fog during the night.. <3 |

| Knowing Valve, there are going to be new weather effects, but I'm guessing it's going to be something like fog during halloween, or snow during christmas. They were doing something in TF2, and it had a nice feel in it, so it would be perfect if they would bring this atmosphere to dota2 too |

Exactly, can't wait for those updates. I remember that even D2P used to have snow falling effect during the Christmas period. Welcome to the forum Ateo! |

| Weather effects will be pretty cool in fact. But think about it, if ValvE releases it as a cosmetic, the cosmetic has to be seen by only one player and that is the player who owns the cosmetic. Otherwise, weather effects items won't give much profit to cosmetic makers as well as ValvE. Of course ValvE won't bother much as it isn't much of a budget for them to implement such a thing but cosmetic makers will spend quite some time for such small profit. IF ValvE releases this as a cosmetic whereby only the owner sees it, then the problems will be solved but the problem is, you can't show off with it ._. (Not sure whether this is the same fate as the announcers pack). This would probably lead to lesser popularity I guess? I mean after all, we buy cosmetics to show off IF ValvE releases this cosmetic as the type whereby others can see it, like I said before, not much profit can be earned from it. All because sharing is caring . But then, sharing could lead to problems. What if there are 5 different people who wants 5 different weather effects in a certain game? What then? |

| If going by this thought process, where weather effects would be like cosmetic items I'm pretty sure that it would work like a couriers or announcers. If there are one at work, and you have your own, you can simply change it to yours and enjoy it;) |

| ^True, but it will not solve profit issues though. I don't think many non-Valve staffs would dwell in this as profit will definitely be lesser than item cosmetics. |

| I'm sure if it implemented by valve, theme map will only accessible based on current season/event... and for classic normal weather like rain and sun light iwill be optional command

| Game mode with weather effect making a difference in game play itself isn't a good thing, or at least for me. I just don't like an idea of running away from enemy with wind blowing in my face |

| I never ever told that wind effects should affect the gameplay! I was talking about the simple gfx +, like you see those snakes on the ground, lurking through the grass. |

| ^yeah nexus i got the ideea from begining just repsonded to the guy who wanted to affect the gamechange,we wouldve been all rusianss if that would've happen . And heck yeah i still keep my side that it should be the same liek the mods and heroes, free baby. No need to buy the modes so no need to buy the weather effects either ,if valve wants to keep sayng its dota then it should look like dota |

| Stop with it being a cosmetic, weather as a cosmetic is just a terrible and pointless idea, whats wrong with it being like old fashioned DotA weather options? |

| I think having weather effects would be really cool. I think having some custom weather effects on certain heroes' spells would be actually look very cool! I don't have an idea of what those spells are but I think it'd be cool.
