| Subject: Valve and Blizzard ‘Dota’ Trademark issue resolved | |
| Valve and Blizzard were having a serious rift for past couple of years on the ownership of DotA. This rift rises when Valve officially announce the strategy based game DOTA 2 with the collaboration with Icefrog along with all the rights of DOTA. But some time after Blizzard showed some retaliation and decided to have a fight against Dota copyrights. After a long wait and Blizzard and Valve decided sort this issue out. On May 11th 2012 in the official announcement they declared that there will be no longer issues on the ownership of DOTA and Valve and Blizzard will continue DOTA as they were doing before. The key points of this announcement are written below.. Some important points of this announcement:1. According to the agreement, Valve will continue to use DOTA commercially, including DOTA 2. 2. Blizzard will preserve noncommercial use of DOTA for its community. 3. As mentioned in the above point Blizzard will have a liberty to use player-created maps for Warcraft III and StarCraft II including Dota Allstars. 4. Blizzard DOTA is going to renamed as Blizzard All-Stars as far as agreement is concerned. According to Valve president Gabe Newell: “We’re pleased that we could come to an agreement with Blizzard without drawing things out in a way that would benefit no one. We both want to focus on the things our fans care about, creating and shipping great games for our communities.”Source: Games-Utilities |

| It didn't change much; it's just that blizzard deicede to be an asshole to Valve. As if DotA actually belonged to them. |

| Anyway is still bad news the only thing they manged to get on is the name,so the trademark on the heroes/spells/names still remains we will stil lack in alot of models.
But no more name arguing that's sure. |

| ^Valve is creative enough I believe, so far MOST of their models seemed fine, if they are bad we will get used to them like Storm Spirit for example. In most cases, we will be like this... - Spoiler:
Spells can't be copyrighted because all spells work around the same basic concept. |
