| Subject: Dota 2 singleplayer, could it work? | |
| Not sure if people have discussed it anything, I haven't really hung out at the playdota forums.
Couldn't SP for Dota 2 be quite cool?
My idea would be to have the heroes and creeps and buildings exactly as they are in MP, so it would be something to play to learn. Except for the map though, like WC3 campaign compared to DotA MP map. You have 2 campaigns, one radiant and one dire, with a few options of 5 preset heroes to play simultaneously (and with the option to choose yourself ofc).
So basically have 5 dota hereos running around facing different creeps and enemy heroes, finding items and getting some gold to buy compliments or potions etc. Get and complete quests etc. I think it would be brilliant, what do you think?
A sort of "The Lost Vikings" feel to an RPG game closer to Diablo than Skyrim or whatever. |

| Then you should've set the title to DoTA 2 RPG lol... I don't think it could work, seeing how small the storyline is for a hero in a DoTA fight. |

| GoSuJinZ, ever heard of expanding a storyline?
And to be honest, how much story do you really need for a hero? I don't know shit about the personal stories of any of the Diablo 1 or 2 classes.
It just seems to me like Dota-like games are the ones that would most need a SP to get people to know the game content to a decent degree, yet they are the ones without any.
What I liked about DotA to begin with was that when I played, I already had a relation with many of the heroes and items as I had played WC3. It was a help for sure to get into the game quicker. |

| Well, since DoTA originated from WCIII it is pretty hard to make an alternative storyline that is different from WCIII and still relate all the heroes together since Blizzard copyrighted its lore. Expanding from scratch will either take many years to make it a good quality or just a plain bad storyline. |

| As I said, you don't need to make a personal story for every hero. Just a general Diablo-ish story so that you can play some SP to get to know the heroes, and through that be able to have something more with the heroes than just MP.
You really try to misunderstand things right? |

| A DOTA 2 CAMPAIGN?
Then... DOTA 2 Woudn't be a Action RTS.. It would be a MMO-RPG ? |

You really try to misunderstand things right? Not try, I was just tired practically... anyways, if to you, a storyline seem so much of a minor problem, then what about expanding each and every hero's skill list? It is definitely hard to make a UNIQUE and USEFUL yet INTERESTING spell especially when you need 200+ of them each different from one another. |

| It should be the same as dota. Every creep, hero, skill and item should be the same. Otherwise it just creates confusion. Creating a storyline for Dota 2 should not be much more difficult than any RTS storyline. You just need to focus on it being an action RPG rather than a rich story RPG.
You don't need more than 4 spells per hero when you control 5. And it is not difficult to control 5 heroes, compared to playing Warcraft 3. |

| So, you want to macro 5 heroes in one campaign, I see what you did there... anyways... dungeons can't appear from nowhere right? There has to be some dungeons otherwise DoTA SP will be just like X Hero Siege without bosses or events(You can place in events) |
