Hello everybody!
My name is Sage and I found this forum today and instantly fell in love.
Dota 2 is the reason we are here and I, much like everyone else here, can't wait to see it.
I'm not a very forum-friendly person, most likely I will only reply to watched threads (they send me e-mail when someone replies, it's awesome ^_^), but if you like, I'm almost always online on FB/ICQ.

Country of origin: Slovakia
Games I played and loved: CS 1.6 (CS:S sucks!), DotA, Warcraft 3, Perfect World
Other stuff I love: My Little Pony
Skills: PHP programming (expert), MySQL (intermediate, I mostly use PHP for interactions)

To be honest I don't have an original copy of Warcraft 3. I donated hundreds of € to other Moba games, but I feel like Blizzard already has more money than they ever gonna need.

I spent a year on LoL, but that matchmaking completely ruined that game for me (too lazy to find a clan), so right now I'm waiting for Dota 2 to finally entertain me like good old Counter-Strike did (10+ hours a day )

lol..i see many ppl (specialy earlier CS old player) prefer CS 1.6 than CS:S
hope DOTA2 will be better than Dota1 or it myb become 2nd CS:S

better late then never CS 1.6 is still fun with loads of maps and mods, you might give it a try

Thank you! Slovakia is a nice country with pretty good DotA players, hopefully I'll become one of them eventually

It may be weird, but I don't really like introducing myself everywhere I go. But after your response I decided I will stay here because people here are awesome and I can't wait to play with you

The main reason I don't consider CS:S worthy is that the engine itself tried to be more realistic, which is not the way of e-sports. Several game aspects from CS 1.6 died when porting to Source engine and even the most basic thing like aiming was changed too much and not for better (I shot a lot more headshots in CS:S than 1.6).
Honestly I don't see that happening, because it's IceFrog behind the Dota 2 and he knows what makes the game playable.
Screenshots look really awesome, graphics look more realistic than any other Moba game, now we have to hope the rest of the game will stay true to Dota roots just like IceFrog promised. I wish I could see the spell effects animations, hopefully it will be just about the right amount of flashy stuff to keep the teamfights clear and "readable" while looking totally amazing

Not really, there are many non-steam servers (or used to be at least, havent been there for quite some time).
Though CS 1.6 isnt that expensive anymore (maybe around 10-5 bucks)

My friends downloaded cs 1.6 and played with russians on garena so I joined them with my real cs 1.6 like a boss and pwned hackers, noobs and pros I was hardcore in my cs days

^ you know what IS expensive? getting my dad to use his credit card even if i pay him the 200% of the game.

Private servers, yay. But i think i wont, too much work (downloading + setting up a private (probably bad and buggy) private server) when i can simply play other of my games , haha =)

NO acually you join a cs room set up cs path go start game press local game and tons of games are available

^ that means downloading illegal CS version. Waiting for it to be downloaded, installing it. Downloading patches, installing them. Downloading gaming client, installing it. Learning how it works and how to set it up, etc etc. And imo that is only worth the effort when we talk about DotA XD

Lol you make it complicated you use garena no patching or downloading gaming client theres no game patching downloading takes 10 min instaling 5...

^ oh cool. Yet i feel guilty for buying games and playing the ones i download like Dota, Amnesia, and others xD
