Just a quick question:

I have never played DotA myself, and I haven't really got a clue of how big with community is/was. With the release of DotA2, we will probably see a significant drop in players in DotA, but I was wondering if anyone (who somehow know the playerbase of DotA) could tell me how big the playerbase MIGHT be in DotA2? I know this might be a wild guess for some (for me, at least), but if someone could give me just a hint of how big it might be (10.000, 1.000.000, 10.000.000???), it would be great.

here's my opinion
3/4 of DotA 1 community will transfer to DOTA 2.
1/2 of HoN and LoL will transfer too.

Dota original have great amount of community since it played many people...
(don't know what exact number but it must be million : asia,europe,other continent )
some of them turn to LoL & Hon (other dota-like game).

with release of Dota2 at least all people who like play dota 1 will try it included some ppl who play LoL and Hon.
then it depend how success or not Dota2 . . . if success dota2 community will bigger than dota 1 community

It'll grow to about that of WoW in a few years

Its hard to actually say.. but i think that the tutorials that will be part of the game, Dota2 will have a lot more people staying to play the games. Think bout it how many people do you think Dota1 lost because the learning curb was to hard o because they got flamed, community could have been a lot bigger..

Me thinks world will have never seen the likes of a community this size.

Dota 2 will be the same as Dota 1!

Think we will get all the lol and hon players.

I agree with your guess there. Because, in a few months, we have almost all MOBA players trying out Dota 2, not just DotA players.

Absolutely, even new players that havent even played the game before, now with tutorials!!! its going to be alot more noob friendly! So people who gave up on the game are going to find it alot easier to get the hang of it.

And besides, DotA is better than those other games.

Yes it is and i say everyone will try... People that haven't played LoL/HoN/Dota , people that quited those games,people who play those game all variety of people will come to try DotA 2, I'm pretty sure.

Well while I was watching the tournament, one of the commentators said that there are around 40 millions of DotA players, 15 million LoL players and (only) 500 thousand HoN players. Now if the 3/4 of DotA community and 1/2 of LoL & HoN (like Spades predicted) transfer to DotA 2 that's around 50 million players.

and 50million is like 1/50th of cod players at least we need to kick it up! xD

As we have heard, 500k people signed up for beta already. Besides that, the game is only getting more and more popular throughout the months.
So my guess, considering all the continents, would be around 1 million players. And that's a BIG number ;)
