| to put it simply, it was not meant for dota. Keep in mind that dota is a map of wc3, which is an RTS game, and in those games you need the patrol function, especially in campaigns. In dota, you need the attack move much more than patrol or move (to prevent ppl from juking you in FoW). |

| yes i fully understand dota is a part of wc3 and the concept of patrol. Ive been playing since the first wc and the first dota in roc.
I just thought it would be a great idea to include patrol in dota 2 especially on units like treants and rexxar's hawk. Since rexxar's hawk has no attack function it would serve greatly in patrolling. Don't you think so? Or does that make me a noob to not want to manually move my hawk every few seconds? |

A fellow veteran I see. Well you've made a valid point regarding Rexxar's hawk., but then again who would use patrol on the hawk anymore? The hawk needs to be standing still to become invisible so its always a better choice to put it up a ramp or move it behind trees where enemies cannot see. |

| well there is a section of a forest for the ancients in the dire section, near roshan. If you let the hawk patrol on that section, the enemy cannot see it unless they are on highground. This vision enables you to see the runes and possible ganks from the bot dire lane or hard lane which is where beastmaster is prone to be. The radiant is a bit difficult as you can have view if the enemy visits the secret shop.
And to have a patrol function is also very good for visage since in most late games, hero locations are very important. Having 2-3 gargoyles patrolling the map just to pick off a lone enemy hero is a hell of a good sacrifice. I can go on about this function for most of the heroes that are yet to make an appearance but im sure you guys can make a guess.
Besides wont it be fun to have your hero run around a tower without controlling him/her? |
