I have been writing poetry since 2009 and I have decided to share it with the rest of the world!

So far, there is only one poem there, but I have lots to add.

This is just one:

I Raise My Eyes To The Skies Once More

Life faces death like sunlight faces nightfall.
We end our time with feelings of remorse,
Lamenting the wrongs and pains of our existence.
Looking back, we smile at our blunders and errors,
And we tear our hearts out our chests in regret.


I have come to realise that past faults are never bemoaned,
For they mould our spirits and adapt us to life.
They create lessons that no advice can bring.
We rarely regret the mistakes we have made,
For we only regret the ones we did not.


I was once fearful to use my heart a second time.
On my deathbed, I thought, no mistakes will haunt me.
I believed that indifference could save me from that suffering.
My creed of apathy was my shield against pain.
I guess I never expected you to show up.


I watched you walk straight through the wall I had built.
You smiled at me and my world simply inverted.
My fear was the only thing to stand in your way.
I don't know how you did it in such a short time,
But you turned my soul to the heavens once more.


I am no longer afraid to love you like I do.
Heartbreak and sorrow impede me no more.
Past mistakes will never shape my future.
My nightmares will never dictate my dreams.
I raise my eyes to the skies and see you.

Deathrise

I look to the skies,
Searching for your eyes
That thinly disguise
Your hidden goodbyes.

I seek to devise
What my heart complies,
My life's fireflies,
Which my pains harmonise.

Piercing the cries,
The sound of your lies.
No matter my tries,
Venus sends goodbyes.

I look to the skies,
Searching for your eyes.
Gone, I now realise,
As a part of me slowly dies.


EDIT: I just realised that that was part 1 of the poem in the OP.
