So I'm new to Dota, and orb effects/buff placers are a topic of confusion for me. In dota 2, orbs are called "unique attack modifiers," and anything that's not an orb is called a "passive." It's my understanding that you can only have one orb and one buff placer on your attack, which in dota2 terms, I'm led to understand, means one unique modifier and one passive. However there are some passives that are neither orbs nor buffs, like BFury's cleave, which just confuses me to no end due to the lack of distinction between "passives."

I've been looking at this chart http://www.playdota.com/mechanics/Orb_Effects to try to figure it out on my own, but honestly it just confuses me more, so I was hoping someone here could help me understand a few things. What are crits and bashes classified as? Can a crit and a bash stack on the same attack?

yes, crit and bash can stack at both times.
*Bash will not stack with other bashes.
*Crit do not stack with other crits.

Say that I have a Desolator and a Mjollnir. Mjollnir has a % chance to apply, while Desolator applies on every hit. If I'm understanding this correctly, when Mjollnir procs, it overrieds Desolator on the attack that it procced, right? And if so, is it ever worth getting 2 orbs like this?

ORBS LIKE DOMI,DESO,Mjo,Mael,Satanic, WORKS WITH SKADI(IF you are ranged) But it doesn't work with other ORBS

BASH stacks with other ORB and BUFFS But not with other BASHes
Same is through with CRITICALS

While you are carryng mijlir and desolator only the most important orb effect will proc.

I made alist somehwre cause it was asked and tested every single inch in dota 1 suposvly it's the same.

Il speak about firstlt eh bash and crit emchanics:

Firstly if you have a cranium basher/abyssal blade or simple youre hero has bash every atack you make rises the chance that your next atk is a bash:

Starting from the normal 25% if you don't bash your next atk will have like 27-32% if you don't again than your next will have 37-43 % chance and so on.
When you bash the next atk will start with the usual 25% .

The critical has the same exact system .

There is one big difference.
If you are an melle you can both crit and bash at the same time

While you are on a ranged hero if you proc the Bash both the numbers for the critical and for the next bash go to the normal status.
The advantage is that ranged hereos can combine Skadi with an orb effect,and that they are ranged of course.

Basher and critical aren't atk modyfyer.

Atk modyfyer is something that modyyfes your atk such as Skady /Desolator.
And buff placer is something that palces on the enemy such as orb of venom,venomancers passive,and other things.

Are mini-bashes still counted as bashes? I'm guessing that they are.

Also bash/crit/cleave aren't "orb effects" or "buffer placers" w/e they are called in dota2 so they work with anything but not with the same item "skill" like other said, bash with bash, crit with crit, cleave with cleave those will not work.

I am not wrong banebu,at least not in dota 1 .

I tryed up and tested all the orb effects.
Suposvly skadi stacks with the others on ranged.
But you can't have deso/mijnoir(well you can)
But they don't stack.
You will etierh get only the chain lighints,or no chain lightings and the armor down i forgot wich one is more important.
You can't have armor down whenver it doesn't not chain!!!!
It will be only 1 efect and only from that orb.


Maybe in dota 2 the stuff is different never had the posibility to test it there ok?
And about the number os the bash and crit they aren't 100% corectly,maybe the're a bit different but if you miss the chacnes is growing always until you bash/crit .

OFC yes.
But he also says if im understanding correctly that he belived if the mijnoir wasnt procing the desoaltor orb effect would apply on every atk and the armor will lower,than when the mijnoir procs again the deso is overrides.
