Hello everyone! The original dota was my favorite game of all time. I used to play it all the time at my local lan center. We would go there everyday after school and there would always be at least 10 people playing dota. We'd do lan inhouses and split up teams by rank (example, the 2 best players would be split, etc.)

We'd play RD, AR, SD, AP with bans, and eventually we started to get a little creative and created our own mode called AP-AR. Every person would choose a hero and write the name down on a piece of paper. the 10 pieces of paper would be tossed into a hat and we would randomly draw a hero. This was fun because you could pick your favorite hero OR you could attempt to sabotage the other team and write down a crappy hero.

Ahh the good old days... Anyway I used to main silencer (semi-carry or support), and I loved THD and dark seer....so fun!

I've been playing LoL recently but I'm getting sick of it, I want to play dota again! =)
Valve looks like they're doing a great job with this title (especially the attention to detail) and I'd love to get my hands on it and play with all you guys!

Judging from you favourite heroes such as Silencer and THD (they are barely used now) I can imagine that you've been into LOL for quite some time ;)

Yes, I'm old school haha. Is lich still good? I used to mid lich a decent amount too.

yes he's still good but if you want to try mid with him i suppose you need to firstly jam your pc so you can blok all the sentences wich reffer to you as an nab player

As he nowdays is used as a sup at the tri-lanes.

If you go for pubs ofc own with him mid xD

'Nowadays tri-lanes are out of fashion, atleast in DotA because the loss of exp/gold for supports is too hard to handle since everyone is pushing. Just look at two latest Chinese tournaments (WGT12, Dream Cup).

yeah I didn't see many trilanes when I was watching that 1 mil tourney a while back. I may have been gone from dota for a while but I'm no nub ; ). There will be a slight adjustment period when I go back to dota, but I retain the skills of my former dota play (including matchup knowledge, since that mostly hasnt changed aside from new/reworked heroes) along with applicable skills learned in LoL. I don't always pick top tier because I like to have fun and make creative teams and strats that work with good synergy. Of course tiers are important, but you can counterpick with silencer and disrupt a nuke heavy team. And THD has a slow, a stun, great early game dmg, and a good amount of AOE damage, with meki he can support and has good health for an int hero, I'm not sure why he isnt being played more.

Any tips for getting into the beta? I've contacted valve like 3 times, filled out the online app twice, entered all the contests with no luck =(
