PostSubject: When heroes are OP, look for DotA 2 like a shining beacon of hope

Hello everyone. I have an addiction. Im addicted to the MOBA style games. What makes this addiction worse is that I'm forced to work through games like HoN, which while technically accurate (mostly), seems to not have any clue what the word balance means. LoL is O.K. It's not what I'm looking for though. It's too cartoony and slow for my nerves. They want to be tested by the timing and attention something like Starcraft 2 takes, and that is where DotA 2 comes in. I expect it to be every bit as technically stunning as and of the other knock-offs have been, and much better moderated.

Maybe I'm starting to rant, but S2, the company that has developed HoN seems to think that player feedback is useless. They also seem to think that disregarding a promise they made about access for players who bought the game for full price won't have consequences. The new Early Access program they have is simply a way to extort money from players in order to have access to the increasingly overpowered heroes that they continue to release. Perhaps one of the points I'm most looking forward to with DotA 2 is the fact that I expect the heroe's they release to have been properly developed and relatively balanced before release to the public.

Alright, there's my schpeel. I'm looking forward to discussion with many of you.

I'm really looking forward to the International. I'm trying to weigh skipping out on school and finding a way to tape it. Although I bet VOD's will be around of it. 2 days until glorious goodness.

Welcome!

Perhaps S2 think that releasing new heroes will keep player's interest to the game because they (obviously) don't want half of their community switching to Dota 2. And since it takes time to balance new heroes, they can't buff/nerf them as soon as it's released (i wonder how they do it since you said that they don't listen to feedback). I think that HoN will die, because all the casual players will move to LoL and more serious players will switch to Dota 2.
